Health Effects
Acute
Ingestion: If large quantities of this material are swallowed, call a physician immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Eye: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with a copious amount of water. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.
Skin: Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. After handling, always wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops.
Inhalation: Avoid breathing dust. If inhaled, remove to fresh air.

Treat symptomatically and contact Poisons Information Centre.

Extinguishing Media:
Use water only in flooding quantities.
Special Exposure Hazard:
Fire fighters should wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and full turnout gear.
Avoid breathing dust, vapours or fumes from burning materials. In case of inhalation of decomposition products in a fire, symptoms may be delayed.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Wear protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contact. Contain – prevent run off into drains and waterways.
Minimise contact of spilled material with soil to prevent runoff to surface waterways.
Use as tool to scoop up solid material and place into an appropriate labelled waste container. Do not mix with sawdust or other combustible material. Avoid creating dust conditions and prevent wind dispersal.
Comply with all Government regulations on spill reporting and waste disposal.
Handling Advice:
Avoid creating dust when handling and avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame).
Avoid contamination by any source including metals, dust and organic matter.
Storage:
Store and use away from heat, sparks, open flame, or any other ignition source. Avoid contact with combustible materials.

Respiratory Protection:Use properly fitted, particulate filter respirator complying with and approved standard if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary. Hand Protection: Chemicals resistant, impervious gloved or gauntlets complying with an approved standard should be worn at all times when handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
Eye Protection: Use dust goggles if high dust concentration is generated.
Skin Protection: Personal protective equipment for the body should be selected based on the task being performed and the risk involved.

Ingestion:Nitrates can be absorbed by the body form the gastro-intestinal system by ingestion. Symptoms may be headache, dizziness, vomiting and cramps.
Eye Contact:Dust particles in the eye cause irritation.
Skin Contact:Dust may dry out the skin and cause irritation. Irritation may be intensified by moist/sweaty skin. May cause itching, smarting, redness or soreness.
Inhalation:Dust may irritate respiratory tract and lungs.
Avoid contaminating waterways.
Mobility:Dissolves in water.
Breakdown:Biodegradable. Mineralizes.
Accumulation:Does not bioaccumulate.
